Sophie Wood isn't just the co-Founder of Belonging Base; she's a force of nature on a mission to transform company cultures.   

As a Trans Woman, Sophie brings a one-of-a-kind perspective to the table. Living life as both male and female her personal journey fuels her deep understanding of the struggles faced by marginalised communities. She and her wife, Danielle, are passionate about crafting psychologically safe spaces that scream authenticity and inclusion – and create that all-important feeling of Belonging for everyone.   

Transitioning in 2011 while working for the UK Police Service, she became Vice-Chair of the National Trans Police Association, educating business leaders both within the Police Service and the NHS.  She’s also been a Consultant for the BBC, advising on transgender content for drama.  She even took a swing at negative trans reporting, ensuring the Leveson Enquiry got the facts. 

Jet-setting to a new life in Spain in 2015, Sophie mastered the ropes in the online gambling industry based in Gibraltar.  From Customer Service to Fraud Investigation and AML. She became an expert trainer in Sportsbook, Poker, Slots and Bingo, she did it all. Oh, and let's not forget leading Diversity & Inclusion globally for corporate giants like Entain and Lottoland. 

She loves to break down barriers and she introduced the industry's first-ever global Trans Inclusion policy ensuring a great experience for trans-employees. More recently she has consulted on and contributed to the first ever (2023) CIPD guidance on ‘Transgender and non-binary at work’. Now it’s full steam ahead with her own business Belonging Base – the sky’s the limit so watch this space!
